I have finally begun to use a Cintiq tablet with an animation program and find it beneficial in some ways and others not so but in the end I give it 'thumbs up' if only for saving you the work of shooting linetests! ;)

On Monday, it is exactly 70 years ago that on August 13th 1942 in the famous Radio City Music Hall in New York City the film had it's it premiere. What can you say but thank Walt Disney and all the people involved in creating what no studio since has been able to equal. Technically I believe there a...

And the worst part these properties always get 'Disneyfied' and in the end we don't get 'new' material just material passed through the Disney funnel because they are so huge, and have to be so politically correct.

The thing is...we as 'humans' appreciate seeing something drawn or painted over a computer generated image because we feel a certain connection to another person, the artist. We like that someone has made these drawings for us whereas we don't feel that connection with 3D. We still may enjoy the sto...

To be THE BIGGEST cartoon character of all time he would have had to be middle of the road and subsequently 'boring'. If it wasn't him it would have been some other politically friendly character. Even Bugs Bunny as popular as he is doesn't appeal to as wide a base as boring Mickey does. I don't thi...

Wow, good question Dawne...On the soundtrack of the album the Sherman brothers mention in their interview how Disney did not like the dark heavy atmosphere of the book and which Peet must have favoured . Would it have been better? That probably depends on your tastes. I think I would have preferred ...

Definitely Dawn. In fact I would go far as to say that without Kimball the Nine Old Men would have been a rather 'thinking inside the box' group, a talented as they all were. Kimball pushed the creative limits in the animation team at Disney during those years. His animation on The 3 Caballeros was ...

Yes Ub designed Mickey. By the time Disney got to Hollywood he concentrated on the creative and directorial/business activities and left the drawing to Ub and other artists. It is said it was Disney's wife Lilly who suggested to use a mouse on their way back on the train from New York when they had ...

Hi Ladokar, The intention of your cycle is good and the style of the drawing is great too but the legs seemed to be animated with only 2 drawings. You will need a couple more to get a better feeling of running. I also find the ears nice but too 'rubbery'. Jerry has a nice expression and little head ...

Hi fastpencil and welcome to the site. It is no problem that you animate at the same time as you better your drawing abilities. All I would say is that in the beginning, until your drawing is stronger, avoid difficult characters such as anything 'classical Disney'. Those characters, although it is t...

Hi Yogesh,
I would start with Richard Williams book The Animators Survival Kit. Then you should check into his DVD series. It does not get much better or more complete than that!

Sorry for the delay. Summer holidays and such. This test seems to have been made with a digital support which is not really the best for this kind of a test. Since the head itself is not moving, only turning it be a VERY solid shape. This solidity can only be achieved by drawing it on paper because ...
